Music Tour - Summer 2020

The destination chosen for our summer music tour for the Year 2020 is Valencia in Spain, with the tour taking place between Tuesday 28th July 2020 and Sunday 2nd August 2020.

We will travel to Valencia by air and will be staying in a hotel in the city centre.

All current members of the Orchestra’s Senior Section are invited to participate in the proposed tour, including those that are due to leave the Orchestra this coming summer.

The outline plan is as follows:

  • DESTINATION: Valencia

  • DURATION: 6 days (including 4 full days in the city)

  • NIGHT ACCOMMODATION: 5 nights

  • ACCOMMODATION BASIS: Half Board at hotel. (see below regarding

  • other meals)

  • CONCERTS: 4

  • TOUR COST: £875

We will be based at the Expo Hotel Valencia (3* standard), with all rooms multi-bedded with private facilities. Concert venues will be finalised once a pre-tour inspection visit has taken place, but we expect that all the concerts will take place outdoors in the afternoon or evening at various locations in Valencia and in the surrounding area.

TOUR COST

The £875 cost per tour participant will include all transport costs from Camberley, all meals (commencing with evening meal on day 1 and finishing with breakfast on day 6) and travel/medical insurance (but not instrument insurance). Excursions during the tour are not included in the price quote, but we expect any additional costs to be low given the location of our hotel in the city and the opportunities for sightseeing nearby. There will also be leisure time at the hotel, which has a swimming pool.

OTHER INFORMATION

Participants will need a full passport to travel. Unfortunately, the price of flights cannot be guaranteed this far ahead and, although our tour company will no doubt be able to secure competitive rates from an early booking, there may need to be an adjustment to the tour cost at that time.

We are arranging our travel, concerts and accommodation with the assistance of one of the UK's leading concert tour organizers, NST Group (www.nst.co.uk), which operates tailored music tours and organized our 2018 Tour to Salzburg. They are ABTA bonded and have many years experience in concert planning and promotions. To ensure that the tour can go ahead, there will need to be expressions of interest from at least 40 of the Senior Section orchestra members invited to participate in the 2020 music tour, with a good spread of instruments to maintain the usual high quality of public performances by our Orchestra on tour.

We will be offering tour participants the opportunity to pay for the tour over an extended period of time and, after an initial deposit of £50 to secure a place, the remainder of the cost can be paid over 15 months at the rate of £55 per month. Full details of the payment options will be provided once we have confirmed that the tour will go ahead.

If for any reason an Orchestra member wishes to withdraw from the tour after commencement of the payment programme, other than for medical reasons covered by the insurance, then the financial responsibility for the full cost can only be avoided if a suitable replacement can be found. This condition is necessary to ensure that costs do not increase for the remainder of the group.

To confirm your wish to participate in the 2020 tour, would you please complete and return the tour form (click/tap here - can also be downloaded from the Forms page on the website) by Saturday 23 March 2019. No money is required until you have received a follow-up letter from us confirming that the tour will definitely go ahead.

Thank you.
